- Born in Yanceyville, N.C., Jan. 6, 1896, Anthony Louis LeLouis was the son of Capt. Louis LeLouis, a Frenchman who settled in the United States shortly after the Franco-Prussian War of 1870. After trading in railroad property in New York and farming in Virginia, Captain LeLouis moved his family to the Clarksdale, Miss., area in 1904.
