      Irvin Daniel "Bud" Everett, 85, of Providence, N.C., peacefully passed away on Friday, May 30, 2014, after a brief stay in Danville Regional Hospital and Roman Eagle Nursing Facility. He was born in Danville, Va., on May 29, 1929, to the late Robert Lee Everett and Ella Martin Everett. He is survived by his beloved wife of 63 years, Jean Murphy Everett; five children, Daniel M. Everett (Liz Everett) of Blanch, N.C., Deborah E. Bernard of Yanceyville, N.C., R. Keith Everett (Cindi Everett) of Ruffin, N.C., Nancy R. Titus of Powder Springs, Ga., and John M. Everett (Cindy Everett) of Danville, Va.; ten grandchildren, Lucas Bernard, Matthew Everett, Whitney Everett Duncan, Andrew Everett, Brittany Titus, Rachel Everett, Rebecca Everett, Lucy Everett, Jordan Titus, and Hayden Everett; two great- grandchildren, Grace Duncan and Elijah Bernard.

      He was predeceased by his brothers and sisters, Earl Everett, Oliver Everett, Virginia McCormick, Robert Everett Jr., Nellie Warren, Mildred Thompson, and Clyde Everett. He was known as "Uncle Bud" to many nieces and nephews. He served proudly as a member of the F-Company 279th Infantry Regiment 45th Infantry Division in the Korean War. His awards include the Combat Infantryman's Badge, Korean Service Medal with Bronze Star, United Nations Service Medal, and the Japanese Occupation Medal. He retired from Danville Lumber Company after a 40 year career with the company. He continued his love of woodworking for many years until his decline in health. The family would like to extend their gratitude to the doctors, nurses, caregivers, and friends for their continued support. Funeral services will be held 2 p.m. Monday, June 2, 2014, at Providence Baptist Church in Providence, N.C., with the Rev. Lee Cook officiating. Burial will follow at the church cemetery. The family will receive friends prior to the service at the church from 1 until 2 p.m. Memorials may be sent to Providence Baptist Church, 5762 Walters Mill Road, Providence, NC 27315. Townes Funeral Home and Crematory, 215 West Main Street is serving the Everett family.
