      Carter D. Lovelace of this vicinity died a few days since of general debility. Mr. Lovelace was born in Caswell County, North Carolina moved to Missouri in the fall of 1833; was 77 years old. He was a quiet, peaceable and respected citizen.

      Cobb and others to Lovelace

      Know all men by these presents that we Mary Cobb (widow of Henry Cobb), Mary Lovelace (widow of James Lovelace), Noah Cobb of the county of Pike, State of Missouri, & Carter Lovelace & Zachariah Lovelace of the County of Montgomery & State of Missouri, and Erasmus K. Jones of the County of Lincoln and State of Missouri, Jesse Lovelace and John U. Lovel of the County of Pike of aforesaid, being heirs of the estate of Zachariah R. Lovelace deceased, late of Pike County, MO, for and in consideration of the sum of twenty dollars to each of us in hand by Barnett H. Lovelace and Brewis W. Lovelace the receipt whereof is hereby acknowledged have this day granted, bargained and sold and by these presents do grant bargain and sell to the said Barnett H. Lovelace and Brewis W. Lovelace all our right, title and interest to the real estate of said Zachariah R. Lovelace deceased being and lying in the county of Pike aforesaid, and the same being the West half of the North west quarter of Section N fourteen (14) Township N 51 (51) Range W three (3) west and the Southeast quarter of the same quarter section in all one hundred and twenty acres more or less, with all and singular therein any wise belonging and we do bind ourselves, our heirs, our executors or assigns, to warrant and defend the title of said land to the said Barnett H. Lovelace and Brewis W. Lovelace their heirs free from the claim of all and every person whatsoever, In testimony whereof we have hereunto set our hands and seals this second day of August in the year of our Lord Eighteen hundred & forty five

Fielden a Justice of the Peace in these and for the county of Pike aforesaid personally came Mary Cobb (widow) of Henry Cobb) Mary Lovelace (widow of James Lovelace) Noah Cobb, Carter Lovelace, Erasmus K. Jones, Jesse Lovelace, Zachariah Lovelace and John U. Lovel, all of whom are personally known to me to be the persons whose names aresubscribed to the foregoing instrument of writing as having executed the and severally acknowledged the to be their act and deed for the purposes therein severally above
