Notes |
- Purportedly married Azariah Graves, Jr. on July 13, 1881, and was the mother of Helen Williams Graves, July 11, 1882 - - May 22, 1964, teacher in Person County, who lived all her life with the Thompson family.

George Nicholas Thompson and Bettie Johnston Thompson had a daughter named Mary Thompson (1863-1885). The death year of 1885 would be consistent with her not appearing in the 1900 US Census, where Helen W. Graves is found living in the household of Ella Williams Graves Thompson (1854-1903). Be careful not to confuse this Ella Graves Thompson with her daughter of the same name.
If the above scenario is correct, Ella Williams Graves Thompson was both step grandmother and aunt to Mary Thompson. Note that many have incorrectly assumed that Helen Williams Graves was the niece of Ella Graves Thompson, the daughter of Ella Williams Graves Thompson.
_______________
Married at the home of her father in Leasburg, Caswell County, North Carolina by the Reverend Solomon Lea.
