- John McMenamy was born 19 February 1795, Caswell County; probably died in Texas after 1870. He served in the War of 1812 as 3rd Lieutenant; owned land in Rutherford County, Tennessee. He and his wife (name unknown) had at least 11 children. They moved to Macon County, Illinois, about 1828, and before 1840 on to north Texas, where they lived in Red River, Fannin, and Collin counties. Known children were: James B., William W., John, Isaac A., S. M. (female), Mary A. C., Jeremiah J., J. M. (male), and J. A. (female).
