      Point (possibly Pointer) Pleasant apparently was a merchant of some sort in Person County, North Carolina, during the 1820s. His Account Book is in the North Carolina State Archives. Attached is the account book cover and a page that shows two Frederick entries: John Frederick (possibly junior); and Paul Frederick. The date is March 1820, and the entries appear to relate to interest charged ("Sundry to Interest acct").

      The parents of Paul Frederick are unknown, and no siblings have been documented.

      Who was this Paul Frederick? With a marriage bond date of 1811, one could surmise that he was born around 1790. There were many others with the Frederick surname (various spellings) in Person County during the early years of the nineteenth century.

      Paul Federick (d.1819/1820). No census record has been found for Paul Federick but he married Elizabeth Durdin on 24 Jan 1811 (Samuel Lunsford bondsman and Ira Lea witness) in Person County, North Carolina. He also was a bondsman for the marriage of Elizabeth Fedrick and William Burton 16 Jan 1819. Thus, he was alive for some period during the 1810-1820 census period.

      Two Frederick males, Paul and James, married two Durdin females, Elizabeth (1811) and Susan (1825).
