Last Will and Testimony of William L. Walker September 23, 1889

In the name of God Amen
I William L Walker of Rockingham County and state of North Carolina, being of sound mind and memory, but considering the uncertainty of my earthly existence, do make and declare this my last will and testament is to say.
Item 1st. That my Executors here after named shall provide for my body a decent burial, suitable to the wishes of my relations and friend, and pay all burial expenses together, with my just debts to all persons oweing out the first moneys coming to their hands as part parcel of my estate.
Item 2nd I will and bequeath to my son Philemon M. Walker the tract of land that I now reside on jointly joining the land of Nathan Canady, Elizabeth Canaday, Joseph Thacker and Philemon M. Walker lying in the counties of Rockingham and Caswell , on the waters of Hogan's Creek. Supposed to contain two hundred and fifty acres be the same more or less to him and him alone, to use and dispose of as he wishes.
Item 3rd I will and bequeath to my daughter Marinda W. McKinney my track of land known as the James Walker tract jointly joining the land of James Bushnell, James Somers and others lying in the County of Caswell on the waters of Horsley's Creek, supposed to contain one hundred acres, be the same more or less to her and her alone to use and dispose of as she wishes.
Item 4th My will is that my wife Selena Walker shall have both my home tract and James Walker tract of land during her natural life or widowhood and that she shall be at liberty to let Philemon M. Walker and Marinda W. Mc Kinney have a portian of the land to cultivate at any time she see proper to do so.
Item 5th. My will is that there shall be no public sale of my property, that all of my property of all kinds remain together for the benefit of my wife. Should there be any property that could be spared, my Executors will be at liberty to make any such sale privately and use the money for benefit of my wife Selena Walker.
Item 6th Should there be a crop on hand at the time of my death my Executors will sell the crop to the best advantage they can and divide the money equally between my wife Selena Walker, Philemon M. Walker and Marinda W. McKinney.
Item 7th My will is that all money due me be collected by my Executors and if there should be any money on hand at my death my Executors will pay it all together to my wife Selena Walker.
Item 8th My will is that at my wife Selena Walkers death all the property that may be on hand shall be sold to the highest bidder and all the money arising from said sale be equally divided between Philemon M. Walker and Marinda W. McKinney. I constitute Philemon M.Walker and Benjamin B. McKinney my Executors.
