- Mastin Moorefield and Wilmouth Stokes were married in Halifax County, Virginia, on May 21, 1804. Because no parent signed to give permission for either to marry, they are assumed to have been of legal age (21). The only other party named was Richard Wade, bondsman and witness. Mastin first appeared on the Halifax County Tax List in 1805, indicating he was at least age 21. From this and the fact that he and Wilmouth are assumed to be about age 21 at their marriage date, the year of birth for each is assumed to be about 1783-17844. Mastin died in 1815.
