E.W. Patton, father of Mrs. Gray McChesney, of this city, died suddenly at his home in Asheville, N.C., at 11:45 o'clock Thursday morning, after having been stricken while en route from Biltmore, N.C., in an automobile. He was a prominent business man of Asheville, and was a former county commissioner. He was 60 years old at the time of his death. Besides his wife, Mrs. Ellen Patton, Mr. Patton is survived by two sons, R. W. Patton, of Asheville, and James Patton, of Norfolk, Va.; three daughters, Mrs. Gray McChesney, of this city, and Misses Mabel and Margaret Patton, of Asheville, and three sisters, Mrs. A. B. Fortune, Mrs. J. B. Sloan and Mrs. W. E. Johnson. Funeral services were conducted from the home at 10:30 o'clock Saturday morning, followed by interment in the Riverside cemetery of Asheville. Mr. and Mrs. Gray McChesney of this city attended the funeral, returning to Kingsport Monday.
