- Jane E. Madding married Augustus Gwyn/Gwynn and had at least eight children. She died either in delivery or close to her last child's birth. Her father Robert Madding took the children and can be found in the 1850 Census for Caswell County, North Carolina. There were bitter feelings expressed in Robert Madding's will. Augustus Gwynn remarried Emily Corbitt late in his life, and that couple had several children.

Wife Martha Madding whole of estate during her life or widowhood and she must support and educate grandchildren, the children of deceased daughter, Jane Gwynn towit: Martha Anne, Robert Z., Thomas R., Littleton A., Richard M., Parmelia A. and Mary Jane Gwynn. In no event should their father Augustus Gwynn have any shares of estate. Exec:brother in law John Cobb. Witness: Henry Badgett, Bartlett Y. Cobb.
