Leasburg Grange Tobacco Factories
Col. Paylor most likely is William C. Paylor, Jr. (c.1830-1910).
A. B. Newman is Anderson Banks Newman (1825-1906), grandfather of Annie Warner Newman (1898-1996), who married Yanceyville Ford dealer John Oliver (Johnny) Gunn (1892-1992).
The Patrons of Husbandry, name give to the smoking tobacco referenced, was the first of the general farmer organizations that appeared in the south after the Civil War. It is another name for the Grange. It is a farmer advocacy and support group.
It appears the owners of the two Leasburg tobacco factories mentioned were members of the North Carolina Grange.

Incorporated Milton & Sutherlin Narrow Gauge RR Corp - 1877. Name may have been Albert Banks Newman. His gravestone in the Leasburg Community Cemetery just has "A B Newman". Gravestone inscription: "Blessed is the man that trusteth in the Lord and whose hope the Lord is." The 1900 US Census shows Anderson Banks Newman (age 75) living with his wife Ellen (age 63) in the household of William J. Pulliam, son-in-law to Anderson Banks Newman. He may have been born 18 July 1825, as the gravestone inscription is difficult to decipher.

In 1897, Leasburg's Anderson Banks Newman (1825-1906) married the mother-in-law of his deceased daughter's husband. The wedding took place at the residence of the son-in-law of both.
