Bobby Smith Dies Yesterday
Yanceyville, N.C. -- Robert (Bobby) Smith, 66, of Yanceyville, Star Rt. 2 died yesterday in Memorial Hospital, Danville, Va. He had been seriously ill since Wednesday. Born in Caswell County, he was a son of the late George S. and Ada Adkins Smith. He retired from the North Carolina Department of Corrections and served in the U.S. Army in World War II.
He is survived by one daughter, Mrs. Doris Blount of Mitchelveille, Md., two sisters Mrs. H. S. Covington of Bradenton, Fla, and Mrs. Clarice Wilson of Hillcrest Heights, Md.; three brothers, Willie L. Smith and Porter G. Smith, both of Yanceyville Star Rt. 2, John D. Smith of Blanche Rt. 1; and five grandchildren.
Funeral services will be conducted tomorrow at 4 p.m. at Purley United Methodist Church by the Rev. Clay Smith. Interment will be in the church cemetery. The body is at Hooper Funeral Home in Yanceyville where the family will receive friends today from 7 to 9 p.m. At other times, they will be at the residence.
