A viewing was Friday from 2 to 8 PM at Fulton Funeral Home Chapel. Funeral services for Mrs. Lavern Slade Johnson was Saturday, October 27, 2012, at 2:00PM at River Zion Missionary Baptist Church, Pastor Alston deliver the words of comfort. Interment followed in the church cemetery. All arrangements for Mrs. Lavern Slade Johnson were entrusted to Fulton Funeral Home 219 Dillard School Dr., Yanceyville, NC
She was a native of Caswell County, NC the daughter of the late Houston Slade and Daisy Chandler Slade, born August 31, 1948. She was a member of River Zion Baptist Church and she was an employee of Alamance Knitting before she became disabled.
She was preceded in death by one sister, Diana S. Jeffries; one brother Houston June Slade.
Her survivors are husband, Carl Johnson of the home; one son, Lamont Johnson (Ethel) of Danville, VA; daughter Ashley Johnson of Danville, VA; one sister, Mary Alice Madden (Rev. Clifton) of Blanch, NC; one brother Lavarn Slade (Ursula) of Baltimore, MD; two half sisters, Janice Brandon of Rochester, NY and Theresa Ann Boyd (Cecil) of Washington, DC; two half brothers, Lamont Slade of Washington, DC and Morris Slade of Roxboro, NC; sisters-in-law, Shirley J. Gentry (Alphonso) of Blanch, NC and Dorothy Johnson of South Boston, VA and Ann Stewart of Bethesda, MD; a devoted friend, Queen Jones of Yanceyville, NC; aunts; uncles; nieces, nephews; and friends.
