      James B. Strader, 81, of Ridgeway, died Sunday, Sept. 4, 2005, at his home.
      He was born March 15, 1924, in Caswell County to Horace G. Strader and Annie Lillard Strader. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Della Dix Strader.

      A graduate of Cobb High School in Pelham, N.C., he served in the Army during World War II in the American Theater. He received the Eamet Campaign Medal with four Bronze Stars, the Good Conduct Medal and the Victory Medal.

      He was owner of Martinsville Retreading and a partner in Riverside Tire in Martinsville. He was a member of Bethel United Methodist Church in Pelham.

      He also was a Free Mason with Piedmont Masonic Lodge No. 152 in Martinsville and a Shriner with Kazim Temple in Roanoke.

      Surviving are three daughters, Linda Saunders of Charlotte, N.C., JoAnn Turner of Ridgeway and Shay Ramsey of Yanceyville, N.C.; and six grandchildren.
      A graveside service with Masonic rites will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday at Bethel United Methodist Church cemetery, 6258 Park Springs Road, Pelham, N.C.
      The family will receive friends from 7-9 p.m. today at McKee-Stone Funeral Services and other times at the home. A gathering will be held at the home after the graveside service.
