    • Lawrence West Cozart, 64, died Jan. 8, 2017 at the VA Hospital in Phoenix, Arizona. Mr. Cozart was born in Asheville in Buncombe County to Sue White and Lawrence W. Cozart. Mr. Cozart was a U.S. Army veteran. Survivors include his mother, Sue Davis White of Carver-Holt Road in Roxboro; his former wife Kathy Cozart of 1089 Franklin Turnpike in Danville, Virginia; a son, Timothy West Cozart and wife Dioran of Tempe, Arizona; a daughter Jan Cozart Hancock and husband Benjie of Danville, Va.; four grandchildren, Cybelle Cozart, Katrina Cozart, Kayla Hancock and Abigail Hancock; two brothers, Mike White of Providence and Steve White of Roxboro; a step brother, David White of Piney Flats, Tennessee; two step sisters, Diane White Adams and Pam White Demmette of North Wilkesboro; and two aunts, Mary Cozart Hubbard and Betty Cozart Daniels of Garner.

      Mr. Cozart was preceded in death by his father, Lawrence W. Cozart; his step father Max White; and his brother Phillip Cozart. Mr. Cozart was a brick mason until he retired in 2005 due to health problems. He was known for the beautiful rock fireplaces he built in Yanceyville, Roxboro, Danville, Virginia and Daytona Beach, Florida. A memorial service will be held on Saturday, Jan. 28 at 2 p.m. at Oak Grove United Methodist Church at 854 Oak Grove-Mt. Zion Rd., Roxboro, N.C. 27574. Memorials may be made to Oak Grove United Methodist Church and Theresa Baptist Church.
