_______________
Glennora (Nora) Frederick apparently was born January 9, 1882. The first record of her life is found in the 1900 US Federal Census where she was enumerated in the household of Leonidas P. Frederick and described as his niece. Thus, as she had the Frederick surname, was she a daughter of a brother of Leonidas P. Frederick? Are sisters eliminated because Nora has the Frederick surname? If so, she probably was a daughter of Cicero S. Frederick, Arasmus D. Frederick, or George W. Frederick. However, in her Virginia death record the informant, apparently her son Carlton Frederick Hardy, identified her parents as James Frederick and Lucy Ann Frederick. And, "Lucy Ann Frederick" is in the box with the heading: "15. MAIDEN NAME OF MOTHER OF DECEASED."
And, because Lucy A. Frederick was a sister of Leonidas P. Frederick, were she indeed the mother of Glennora (Nora) Frederick, Glennora Frederick would be a niece of Leonidas P. Frederick, remaining consistent with her description in the 1900 US Federal Census.
The next reference to "Nora" Frederick is the newspaper account of her July 1, 1900, marriage to Bertie C. Hardy at the home of L. P. Frederick.
As Lucy A. Frederick apparently died December 1899 (see newspaper clipping referencing the funeral attendance by her brother A. D. Frederick), having her daughter living with Lucy's brother Leonidas P. Frederick and being married in his home is not inconsistent with Lucy A. Frederick's being the mother of Glennora (Nora) Frederick.
Glennora Frederick and Bertie Carlton Hardy had at least two children: Margaret Hardy (1906-1935); and Carlton Frederick Hardy (1907- ).
Based upon the foregoing, the working hypothesis used in this database is that Glennora (Nora) Frederick is a daughter of Lucy A. Frederick, sister of Leonidas P. Frederick. Researchers are admonished to proceed with caution in this area. For example, who is the James Frederick shown as the father of Glennora Frederick in her 1974 death certificate?
_______________
Minnie Frederick and the person that appears to be her aunt, Glennora Frederick, married men with the Hardy surname. Minnie married Lemuel H. Hardy, Jr.; and Glennora married Bertie Carlton Hardy. The two men are first cousins. Note that the father of the groom, Elder Lemuel H. Hardy, presided at the marriage of Glennora Frederick and Bertie Carlton Hardy.

_______________
Family Reunion
On Sunday, August 20th, there was a family reunion held at the home of Mr. and Mrs. L. P. Federick. They have eight children but only three are at home. Mr. J. W., Miss Meadie and Master Daily Federick, Mr. W. W. Frederick from Warren's Grove, Mrs. L. E. Hardy, Jr. from Reidsville, Mr. J. N. Federick, Roxboro; Mr. and Mrs. J. L. Pittard, Cedar Grove; and Mr. and Mrs. J. C. Long, Prospect Hill. A cousin of the family, Mrs. B. C. Hardy of Oriental was present. A fine dinner was prepared which everyone enjoyed. During the day there were sixty people in and out. Mr. Oakley from Roxboro came out to take a picture of the family group. It was a pleasant day to be with all the loved ones once again. All went home feeling that they had spent a very happy day. God bless the old people who were so happy to have all their children with them once more.--X

When this census record summary was found it was confusing. Was she a daughter of Leondas P. Frederick who had established an independent household next door? However, she would be rather young to have done that. Also, note that she was "At School." That part of the census report concerned with home ownership or rental is blank. Did the census enumerator make a mistake? Ancestry.com made the mistake. It transcribed "Nease" as "Head." Actually the record should appear as follows:
