- Bennie Elwood Crumpton, 58, of 1547 Walters Mill Road, Providence, NC died Friday, October 1 at the University of Virginia Hospital. He was born July 18, 1946 in Danville, Virginia, the son of the late Eli Loyd Crumpton Sr. and Bertha Gentry Crumpton. He retired from Masonite Inc. after 25 years of service in the finishing department. He was of the Baptist faith a former member of the Providence Fire and Rescue.
He is survived by a loving wife, Mae Collie Crumpton of the home, one son, William (Billy) Crumpton of Providence, six sisters, Lema Blackstock, Myrtie Yarbrough, Helen Talbert, Margaret Arnold, Shirley Motley and Phyllis Seamster, all of Danville and four brothers, Troy Crumpton, Ray Crumpton, Harold Crumpton, and Larry Crumpton, all of Danville. He is predeceased by three brothers Herman, Bobby and Eli Crumpton Jr. Funeral services were held Tuesday, October 5 at Norris Funeral Services Chapel with the Reverend Avery Marshall officiating.
