- Cebern Elree Cassady (1950-2012)
Pelham, North Carolina - Cebern Elree Cassady, Sr., age 62, of 3149 Old Highway 29, Pelham, North Carolina, died Wednesday, August 22, 2012 in the Cone Hospital in Greensboro. He had battled cancer for the past year. Born March 24, 1950 in Danville, he was the son of the late Cebern Cassady and Jewel Moore Cassady. He worked at Dan River Mills for 36 years and at Goodyear Tire and Rubber Co. as a pipe fitter for 5 years. He was a member of Pelham United Methodist Church, the Pelham United Methodist Men, and retired from the Pelham Volunteer Fire Department.
Survivors include his wife: Dorothy Ketchum Cassady of the home; two sons: C. E. Cassady, Jr. of Pelham, David Cassady and his wife Tonya, also of Pelham; one daughter: Priscilla Cassady of Pelham; one granddaughter: Taylor Cassady of Pelham; one brother: Colon Cassady of Pelham; one sister: Rhonda Phelps of Danville; a special friend: Jeffery Womack of Java, VA.
Funeral services officiated by the Rev. Larry Durham and the Rev. Greg Cassady were held Saturday, August 25, 2012 at 11:00 a.m. in the Pelham United Methodist Church. Interment followed in the church cemetery. The family received friends Friday, August 24, 2012 from 6:00 until 8:00 p.m. at the church. At other times, they have been at the residence, 3149 Old Highway 29, Pelham, NC. Swicegood Funeral Home is respectfully serving the Cassady family.
