Aug 17, 2010 - 06:12:24 pm CDT: Yanceyville - Thomas Earl Watlington Sr., 83, of 1497 U.S. Highway 158 West, went to be with his Lord Thursday, August 12, 2010 at Hospice and Palliative Care Center of Alamance-Caswell, following a period of declining health. He was born March 29, 1927 in Caswell County to the late Oscar Bryant and Fannie Roberts Watlington. He was the owner and operator of W & W Supermarket retiring after thirty-three years. During that time he was appointed Chairman of the Caswell County Chapter of the National Federation of Independent Business Men. He also retired from the Yanceyville Volunteer Fire Department. He was a member of Prospect United Methodist Church serving as a Trustee and a member of several Boards.
Funeral Service will be Saturday 11 am, August 14 at Prospect United Methodist Church conducted by Pastor David Grissom, interment will follow in First Baptist Church cemetery of Yanceyville. Survivors are wife Rachel Daniel Watlington of the home, son Nathan Watlington, sisters Doris Allen and Mary Wilma White, daughter-in-law Debbie Watlington, step-daughter Debra Chandler and husband James, step-son Allen Hodges and wife Lynn, three granddaughters, Lindsay and husband Steven Yarborough, Jilian Watlington and Abby McKinney and husband Ivan, two step-grandsons Michael Chandler, and Parker Hodges, and great-grandchilden Leah Yarborough and Wyall McKinney,
In addition to his parents he was predeceased by first wife Annie Dean Slaughter Watlington, son Thomas Earl Watlington Jr., sister Anna W. Odell, brothers Irvin Watlington, William Penn Watlington, and Oscar. B. Watlington Jr. The family will receive friends Friday, from 7-8:30 pm at Harrelson Funeral Service chapel, and other times at the home. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Alamance-Caswell Hospice, 914 Chapel Hill Road Burlington, NC 27215. Harrelson Funeral Home is assisting the Watlington family with arrangements.
