- Rockingham Man Wins Popular Caswell Girl
One of Yanceyville's Loveliest Girls Weds Popular School Master of Local Schools
Annie Elizabeth, only daughter of ex-sheriff John Henry Gunn, and sometimes referred to as "Yanceyville's best loved sweetheart," was united in marriage at six o'clock on Friday, the 19th, to Clyde Vernon McKinney, a very popular member of the local school faculty. Owing to the very recent death of the mother of the bride, the wedding was one of quiet simplicity and was attended by only a few of the many friends of the contracting parties. Rev. Roy F. Whitley, pastor of the Yanceyville Presbyterian church, was the officiating minister in the solemn ritual.
The bride is an unusually loveable girl of sweet and gently disposition carrying sunshine and a helping hand wherever she goes. Mr. McKinney, a native of Rockingham and a son of Mr. and Mrs. Joe B. McKinney, has made many friends since coming to Yanceyville to teach and is regarded as a fine type of educated Christian manhood. Even Madame Grundy calls the union a "natural" and predicts a happy outcome. The Messenger joins many friends in congratulations and good wishes.
