Ada Belle James Moorefield (1870-1955) apparently was living at the Moorefield home place in Purley, Caswell County, North Carolina (Star Route, Danville, Virginia) when she became ill. However, her death certificate shows that she died in Yanceyville, Caswell County, North Carolina, and had been there seven weeks.
This most likely was at the home of her son Arthur William Moorefield (1893-1976) just south of Yanceyville, where she would have been attended to by Mrs. Arthur William Moorefield (Pearl Virginia Smith). The deceased's husband had been dead for many years (died in 1837).
The cause of death was cerebral thrombosis (stroke) complicated by a long history of "arteriosclerotic heart disease." She was 84. The attending physician was Dr. Thomas Lea Gwynn, M.D. The informant on the death certificate was her daughter Mrs. Ralph Isenhour (Verna Brent Moorefield) of Salisbury, Maryland. No autopsy was performed. Burial was at the Yanceyville First Baptist Church.

When she became ill before her death she chose to stay with her daughter in-law, Pearl Virginia (Smith) Moorefield rather than any of her many daughters.
She had admonished her great granddaughter, Mona Diane Frederick, that she was "going to break her neck" by riding the horse Prince so fast up the driveway at the old Moorefield home place south of Yanceyville on Route 62.
She had a cuckoo clock in her house at Purley, North Carolina, which fascinated the little children.
