Clyde Ray Jones, Jr. was a 1st Lieutenant in the United States Air Force at the time of his death. His passion was flying. When he crashed he was flying one of the first jets, a one engine F84-E Thunderjet, in England.
1st Lt. Clyde Ray Jones, Jr. was my daddy. His last assignment was at Manston AFB England. February 6, 1953 he collided in mid air with another F84-E Thunderjet. Even though he knew the dangers at the time, he still chose to take the risk as a jet fighter pilot to defend our country and our freedom. Although I was only 4 years old at the time I'll never forget his bravery. He is my hero forever. Freedom is not free! Leslie Eileen Jones.
