He and Sally King Davis appeared on the 1870 Federal Census of Danville, Pittsylvania Co., Virginia, enumerated 1 Jul 1870, reporting personal estate of $500. Their son Warren was listed as living with them. David and Sally appeared on the 1880 Federal Census of Danville, Virginia, at Main St., enumerated 5 Jun 1880. Their children Warren, Annie and Page were listed as living with them, as well as his wife's cousin, Mariah S. Toot, and two Black female servants.
