He appeared on the 1860 Federal Census of Pittsylvania Co., Virginia, in the household of his parents. He and Sally King Davis appeared on the 1870 Federal Census of Danville, Pittsylvania Co., Virginia, enumerated 1 Jul 1870, reporting personal estate of $500. Their son Warren was listed as living with them. David and Sally appeared on the 1880 Federal Census of Danville, Virginia, at Main St., enumerated 5 Jun 1880. Their children Warren, Annie and Page were listed as living with them, as well as his wife's cousin, Mariah S. Toot, and two Black female servants.
