This barn once stood on the Jeremiah Bradsher Stanfield (1850-1891) farm just west of Roxboro (Person County, North Carolina) on the Leasburg Road (US Highway 158). The barn site was beside the family cemetery, and a portion of the brick foundation remains. Restored by the Person County Museum of History, the barn now has a new rock foundation, new chinking between the logs, and a new tin roof. Note the period sign. The barn is on exhibit at the Person County Museum of History (Roxboro, Person County, North Carolina).

A note on the back of the house photograph written by Mona Frederick to her brother Richmond Stanfield Frederick identifies people in the photograph as: Uncle Ira's children on the left; Uncle Walter & family on the right, along with "granma Stanfield." Walter and Eula are shown with three small children. The youngest appears to be around two years old. The picture must have been taken before July 18, 1928, which was the date of Walter's death.

Minerva Catherine (Kate) Fox lived between December 13, 1849, and May 2, 1936. She was the mother of Mary Stella Stanfield and seven other children. Her husband died on November 2, 1891, leaving her with eight children to raise. Three of the children predeceased her. She lived a short while in Georgia at an early age, but most of her life was spent in Person County, North Carolina. She lived in the same house for 58 years. That was the Kate Fox Stanfield Homeplace on the Leasburg Highway. She was 86 when she died. Interment was in the family cemetery at the home place on the Leasburgh Road, Roxboro, North Carolina. Parents were Nathaniel Fox and Mary Jane Wrenn. Pall Bearers: Hambrick Harris; Sanford Long; Jerry Stanfield; Bedford Stanfield; Ransome Frederick; and Elbert Stanfield.
Kate apparently was living with her son Ira at the time of the 1930 US Census.
Whether her name was spelled Katherine or Catherine is not entirely certain. It is possible that Kate was named for her maternal grandmother, Catherine Gregory Wrenn Hudgins. Catherine Gregory was listed as Dicey Gregory when she married Sidney Wrenn (Rend). However, the death certificate shown below uses Katherine. Note that her will only uses the name Mrs. J. B. Stanfield. Her gravestone shows "Minerva K. wife of J. B. Stanfield."
