Birth Date and Name Uncertainty
According to the Frederick family Bible: "Willie Watters Frederick was born Oct. the 5 1879." However, the 1880 US Federal Census for Roxboro Township, Person County, North Carolina, was taken June 4, 1880. His parents are shown as married and living in the household of Ransom Fedrick, but without a child listed. Thus, the actual birth date is uncertain. Also, even with the above family Bible record, some confusion remains as to his correct given name. The first name is seen as Willie. The middle name apparently is Warton, Waters, Watters, Walter, or Walters. Some records even show it as Wallis. His daughter gave her first sont the middle name Wharden. However, some family members believe it is Waters, which is the name used in this database. And, the only known signature is: William Waters Frederick.

Family Reunion
On Sunday, August 20th, there was a family reunion held at the home of Mr. and Mrs. L. P. Federick. They have eight children but only three are at home. Mr. J. W., Miss Meadie and Master Daily Federick, Mr. W. W. Frederick from Warren's Grove, Mrs. L. E. Hardy, Jr. from Reidsville, Mr. J. N. Federick, Roxboro; Mr. and Mrs. J. L. Pittard, Cedar Grove; and Mr. and Mrs. J. C. Long, Prospect Hill. A cousin of the family, Mrs. B. C. Hardy of Oriental was present. A fine dinner was prepared which everyone enjoyed. During the day there were sixty people in and out. Mr. Oakley from Roxboro came out to take a picture of the family group. It was a pleasant day to be with all the loved ones once again. All went home feeling that they had spent a very happy day. God bless the old people who were so happy to have all their children with them once more.--X

According to the above reunion article in 1916 W. W. Frederick was living in Warren's Grove, a community located southwest of Roxboro, Person County, North Carolina, on the "Burlington Road" (Highway 49). Exactly where his home was located in the Warren's Grove area is not known.

_______________
I do not remember exactly when it was in the 1950s (but obviously before April 26, 1955, when she died) our grandmother invited my first cousin William Gail Clayton and me to her house. There she gave us each a pocket watch that had belonged to her husband, our grandfather, Willie W. Frederick (1879-1931).
The smaller watch was, she said, "prettier" and she gave it to William Gail Clayton as he was older. However, the larger watch she gave to me is one of the "prettiest" heirlooms I possess -- being only the second item I own that belonged to my grandfather. I also have his double-barrel Ithaca shotgun. He died long before I was born.
