Annie Lucille Stephens Durham, age 83, of 1247 Old NC Highway 86, Yanceyville, NC, died Wednesday, January 25, 2012 in Moses Cone Hospital, Greensboro. Born May 1, 1928 in Fuquay-Varina, NC, she was the daughter of the late John Stephens and Lura Senter Stephens. She retired from First Virginia Bank after 35 years of service. Mrs. Durham loved the Lord and her family very much. She was a Sunday School teacher for many years at Community Baptist Church in Yanceyville. She also loved to play the piano.
She is survived by her husband of 65 years, Dewey Bernard Durham, Sr. of the home; one daughter: Linda Kay Durham of Providence, NC; Grandchildren: Connie Daniel of Yanceyville, Kelly Routh of Florida, Jake Silverman of Peru, Alex Silverman of Elon College, NC; Great-grandchildren: Brianna Massingale and her husband Christopher of Hampton, VA, Megan Warren and Dustin Warren, both of Stokesdale, NC, Bailey Routh, Rich Routh, and Josh Routh, all of Florida; great-great-grandchildren: Christopher Massingale, Jr. of Hampton, VA, Reagan Massingale of Hampton, VA, Peyton Hopper of Stokesdale, NC; several nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by a son, Dewey Bernard Durham, Jr., and a daughter, Pamela Sue Silverman; five brothers: Charles Stephens, Clarence Stephens, Bill Stephens, Rudolph Stephens, and John Stephens.
Funeral services officiated by Pastor Jonathan Hamilton will be held Saturday, January 28, 2012 at 2 p.m. at Community Baptist Church in Yanceyville. Interment will follow in the Church cemetery at a later date. The family will receive friends Friday, January 27, 2012 from 6:00 until 8:00 p.m. at Community Baptist Church.
