      Mr. Sam Lloyd "Mike" Evans age 81 of 4408 Shady Grove Road Providence, NC passed away at Danville Regional Medical Center Saturday, June 16, 2012 after a decline in health since 2009. Mr. Evans was born on May 1, 1931 a son of the late Dewey Evans and late Mary Elizabeth Evans. He had lived his entire life in Caswell County, NC where he owned and operated Evans Well Drilling Company. He was president of North Carolina Groundwater Association from 1990 - 1992. He was a member of the National Water Well Association. He was a graduate of Danville Technical Institute. He was a member of Welcome Baptist Church. He served in the US Army in Korea. On December 31st, 1955 he was married to Robette J. Robertson, who survives.

      In addition to his wife of the residence he is survived by one son, Michael Keith Evans and wife Cheryl of Pelham, NC, three daughters Pamela E. Cook and husband Larry of Blanch, NC, Karen E. Moorefield and husband Jesse of Pelham, NC, and Lisa E. Callahan and husband Robert of Wytheville, VA, two brothers, Hubert Evans and wife Irene of Pelham, NC, Carl Evans and wife Barbara of McLeansville, NC, one sister Nancy Layne and husband James Henry of Pelham, NC, eight grandchildren Christie Adams, Justin Evans, Adam Cook, Jayce Cook, Kelly Moorefield, Evan Moorefield, Wesley Chilton and Samantha Chilton, four great grandchildren Olivea Cook, Aiden Cook, Austin Evans, and Walter Adams. He was predeceased by three brothers, Nathan Evans, Edward Evans and Kenneth Evans, four sisters, Gladys E. Adkins, Vera E. Land, Edna Trammell and Patsy E. Booth.

      Funeral services will be conducted at 2:00 pm Tuesday, June 19th, 2012 from Wrenn-Yeatts Westover Chapel with the Reverend Jimmy Reaves officiating. Interment will follow in the Happy Home cemetery Rockingham County, NC with military honors conducted by the American Legion Dan River Post 1097 and the US Army. The family will receive friends at the funeral home Monday evening June 18th, 2012 from 7 - 8:30 pm and at other times the family will be at the residence 4408 Shady Grove Road, Providence, NC.

      In lieu of flowers donations to the Pelham Volunteer Fire Department at 4895 Old US Hwy 29, Pelham, NC 27311. The family expresses sincere appreciation to Dr. Florencio Garcia and his caring staff at Southside Nephrology and also to his caregivers, Barbara Wray, Jeanne Brooks, Mike Labie and Dottie Woods.
