Note: James W. Sawyers/ Soyars, son of Pleasant Soyars and Mary "Polly" Coleman, was born 11 Oct 1823 in Pittsylvania County, VA. He married Awelthy Elizabeth (Ann) Coleman 16 Dec 1844 PIttsylvania County, VA (Rev. Jno. Pitchard). Ann was the daughter of Stephen Coleman Sr. and Susannah Robertson. In Stephen Coleman's Will, dated 12th day of August 1857 and probated 19th day of October 1857: Item 4th I have given to son James W Sawyers one young mare valued by me at Forty Dollars one cow & calf at twelve Dollars one bed & furniture fourteen Dollars

Note: Mary "Polly" Coleman, was born 22 Dec 1797 in Pittsylvania County, Virginia, the daughter of Chloe T. McDaniel and William Coleman. She was the granddaughter of Captain William McDaniel and Anne E. Smith, and Daniel Coleman III and Patience Thompson. She married Pleasant Soyars 17 October 1822 in Pittsylvania County, VA. He was the son of Corporal James Soyars and Jane Oakes.
Mary "Polly' Coleman Soyars was mentioned in her mother's nuncupative will:
Pittsylvania County Wills, Book 1, page 248 Chloe Coleman We whose names are underneath do certify that Chloe Coleman dec'd. during her last illness and on her death bed called upon us to take notice that she left it as her request and will, that of the property that she had then in her possession, that of the same she wished for her daughter Polly Soyars* to have one bed and furniture, one fall leaf table and one sugar case, and after the death of said Polly Soyars that the above property should descend to the lawful heirs of her body.
Also she gave to her grand daughter Chloe J. Soyars* one cotton wheel and cards.
Also she gave to her son Spilsby G. Coleman one bed and furniture and one sorrel horse called the Farmer.
Also she gave to her daughter Lucy Price one flax wheel.
Also she gave to her grand daughter Martha A. S. Price her side saddle.
Also she requested that a bond of fifty dollars executed to her from her son Stephen Coleman for a a mare she sold him should be given up to Anne S. Blair to pay a debt she owed her for the hire of her man Isam.
Given under our hands this 14th day of November 1833.
