That Bartlett Yancey, Jr., and Nancy (Ann) Graves had a daughter named Caroline L. Yancey who was born in 1812 and died in 1813 has not been confirmed with respect to any primary source. Query why no grave marker has been located. Note also, the daughter Caroline Louisa Yancey born much later. Naming a child after one who died young is not unprecedented.
Adding additional doubt with respect to this person is the short time between her purported birth and the birth of the next child, Curtius Yancey: December 13, 1812 to May 1813 (a maximum of around five and one-half months). While physically possible, this short period when combined with the absence of a grave marker causes red flags to fly. The Yancey family of Caswell County marked well the graves of deceased members.
