Thank you for all the wonder information and research you have done on the Thompson family. That side of the family loved to write letters, almost daily, to each other when they were apart. I have even read the letter my grandfather Azariah Graves Thompson wrote to his sister Ella Thompson the day I was born. It talked about my birth, and said they understood my 2nd and my last name (Graves Thompson), but they wondered why in the world my parents picked Susan for a first name. I have read many of the family letters and have a copy of the Journal my Grandfather, Azariah G Thompson Sr., kept while at NC College of Agriculture and Mechanical Arts. Before reading it, I never knew colleges had Milking Classes. They were such interesting people and had a gift for keeping information in fun to read journals, letters, and old pictures. My cousin Hannah Hobbs-Roulstone (whom you mentioned above) created wonderful ancestry books which she gave to each of us (the Thompson grandchildren) before she passed. Rick, I'm glad to hear that we are distantly related as well.
