| Notes |
- The 1910 census shows that Stephen was in his second marriage, Sallie in her first. They had been married 34 years, which points to marriage about 1876. That agrees with the censuses of 1860 and 1870, where the first wife is living. She was also named Sarah. Stephen’s sons George, James and Thomas were from his first marriage. Also in 1910, Stephen’s wife said all five of her children were still living, although she had said in 1900 that five of six were living.
