    • Herman David Brandon (1930-2011

      Greensboro - Herman David (Pop) Brandon, Sr., 80, passed away Sunday, February 20, 2011 at Moses Cone Hospital. An 11:00 a.m. Funeral Service will be held Wednesday, February 23rd at Forbis and Dick North Elm Street chapel. Interment will follow immediately afterwards at Lakeview Memorial Park. Mr. Brandon was born May 6th, 1930 in Blanche, NC to the late Jasper Henry Brandon, Sr. and Nannie Williams Brandon.

      He worked as a foreman for Southern Paint in Greensboro until his retirement in 1994. He loved to go coon hunting with his dogs and won numerous hunting trophies. In his spare time he also enjoyed going to the mountains to enjoy the beautiful scenery. Herman especially loved spending time with his grandkids and his friends. He will be missed by his constant companion and loving dog, "Mr. Buddy."

      Mr. Brandon was preceded in death by his wife, Shelia L. Brandon. Additionally, he is predeceased by sisters Nettie Anthony and Dorothy Snow as well as brothers Jim and Jasper Brandon. Survivors include sons Herman David Brandon, Jr., Billy D. Brandon (Porchia) and Danny R. Brandon as well as daughters Debra Brandon Halbrook and Robyn Beach (Bobby). He is also survived by four grandchildren, Jon, David, Jamie and Trey Beach. Others Survivors include a cousin, Marie Poteat, who would always call to check on "Pop."

      Family visitation will be held Tuesday, February 22 from 6:00 until 8:00 p.m. at Forbis and Dick North Elm Street Chapel. Online condolences may be sent to www.forbisanddick.com.
