The following is from The Heritage of Person County, Volume I, Madeline Hall Eaker, Editor (1981) at 232-233 (Article #492 "The Charlie Louis and Nannie Whitt Foushee Family" by Christine F. Wade):
About 1921 he [Charlie Louis Foushee] bought a small farm from S. J. Dickens across the road from the L. P. Frederick farm, about two and half miles from Roxboro on Leasburg Road. Later he bought another farm joining this, known as Winstead's farm. Both farms totaled one hundred acres and this is where they lived and farmed the remainder of their lives.
First the land was cleared for the home site and an orchard planted in the back and four maple trees in the front yard. Then the home was built by his father, John H. Foushee, Nash Frederick, James Foushee, himself and others. The home and four maple trees are still there after sixty years, plus many other farm buildings and a pond. There were two other children born here, Carl and Pauline. He had a hard time making ends meet, but with his wife by his side and all of the children helping as we grew older, we managed and had a full and happy life.

Family Reunion
On Sunday, August 20th, there was a family reunion held at the home of Mr. and Mrs. L. P. Federick. They have eight children but only three are at home. Mr. J. W., Miss Meadie and Master Daily Federick, Mr. W. W. Frederick from Warren's Grove, Mrs. L. E. Hardy, Jr. from Reidsville, Mr. J. N. Federick, Roxboro; Mr. and Mrs. J. L. Pittard, Cedar Grove; and Mr. and Mrs. J. C. Long, Prospect Hill. A cousin of the family, Mrs. B. C. Hardy of Oriental was present. A fine dinner was prepared which everyone enjoyed. During the day there were sixty people in and out. Mr. Oakley from Roxboro came out to take a picture of the family group. It was a pleasant day to be with all the loved ones once again. All went home feeling that they had spent a very happy day. God bless the old people who were so happy to have all their children with them once more.--X
