- The Bee (Danville, Virginia), 22 November 1924 (page 6)
A beautiful home-wedding of much interest here and throughout the county, took place today at 1:30 o'clock, at the home of Mrs. S. K. Cobb, South Main street, when her sister, Miss Anna White, daughter of the late J. F. White and Mrs. Priscilla Jones White of the county became the bride of R. W. Crumpton, of Roxboro, N.C. The ceremony was performed by Rev. Samuel T. Senter, pastor of Mount Vernon M. E. Church. On account of the illness of the bride's father, the wedding was a very quiet one, only the close relatives of the bride and bridegroom, and a few intimate friends were present. The bride wore a handsome suit of tan crepe cloth with corresponding accessories and carried a bouquet of Bride roses. Miss Lena Cobb, niece of the bride and her only attendant, wore a lovely gown of brown chenille velvet, with hat to match, and carried a bouquet of Sweetheart roses. J. Langmond Crumpton of Roxboro, son of the bridegroom, acted as best man. Miss Nell Cobb, niece of the bride, presided at the piano and played the wedding marches. The living room in which the wedding took place, was banked with evergreens and white chrysanthemums and illuminated by lighted white candles that cast a soft glow over the scene. Immediately after the ceremony the wedding party and assembled guests were served a delightful luncheon in the dining room which decorated with evergreens and pink roses was very beautiful. The dining room table had a center piece of roses in a silver basket, silver candlesticks tied with bows of pink tulle, at the four corners and silver dishes filled with pink mints and almonds. After the luncheon, Mr. and Mrs. Crumpton and the bridal party motored to Roxboro, where a six o'clock dinner will be served at the home of the groom. Mr. and Mrs. Crumpton are both well known in Danville, where they have many relatives and friends. They have been identified here in social and business circles for a number of years. The bride graduated from Danville High School and having since taught county schools. She has held a position in Cobb Memorial school for several years, and among the guests at the wedding were the members of the school's faculty and several students. Mr. Crumpton is a highly esteemed and successful farmer of Roxboro community and owns a handsome home there.
