      Caswell County Quail Club

In the early 1960s a group of sportsmen who realized the precarious position of the bobwhite quail in Caswell County created the Caswell County Quail Club. To improve food sources and ground cover for the dwindling bobwhite quail population the Club launched a contest to see what high school students could accomplish in planting cover and food plants. The winner would receive an automatic shotgun. The second place award was a double-barrel shotgun.
Winners: Tommy Underwood (first place); and Jack Pointer, Jr. (second place).
