_______________
Highway construction foreman. It is possible, but not confirmed, that Wyatt Emerson Phelps, owned and operated a service/filling station in Yanceyville that later was owned and operated by Buddy and Oldham Terrell as an Amoco franchise.
He was a member of the Prospect Hill Primitive Baptist Church and was employed by the NC state highway department for twenty-five years.
The graves of Ray I. Phelps and W. Emerson Phelps are near each other in the First Baptist Church of Yanceyville (Caswell County, North Carolina) cemetery; and they were born within two years of each other. The son of W. Emerson Phelps was William Emerson Phelps (1939-1992).
_______________
In connection with the latest "Odd Caswell County Building" posted here we learned that it was used as a service station with several operators. Thanks to those who contributed information.
1. John Clay (Jake) Lunsford (1923-1967)
2. Wyatt Emerson Phelps (1906-1992)
3. Raymond Howard Wilson (1923-2013)
4. Robert Jones (Buddy) Terrell (1932-2005) and brother Giles Oldham Terrell (1935-1999)
We were uncertain about Raymond Howard Wilson until locating the attached obituary.
"He owned and operated several service stations in this area."
