Mary Lee Satterfield Hovatter, 87, of Ruffin, NC went to be with the Lord Friday February 17, 2023 at Annie Penn Hospital. Graveside services will be conducted 1:00 P.M. Wednesday February 22, 2023 in Burchwood Cemetery Roxboro, NC with Dr. Lance Cole officiating. The family will be at the residence. You may come by Citty Funeral Home Tuesday February 21, 2023 8:00 A.M. till 6:00 P.M. to sign a register and show your sympathy.
A native of Caswell County, she was a daughter of the late Owen Lee and Ercell Clayton Satterfield and had lived most of her life in Caswell County. She was a member of Locust Hill United Methodist Church. A former employee of Sears in Reidsville, she and her husband owned and operated Hovatter's Mini Mart in Casville for a number of years. She enjoyed talking to and visiting with her friends. Mary Lee loved her cats, enjoyed knitting, and never met a stranger. She truly enjoyed her weekends at Bugs Island, Hyco and Smith Mountain Lake with her family. She was preceded in death by her husband: Huel T. Hovatter, Sr., a daughter: Ida Lee Hovatter, and a granddaughter: Kami S. James.
Survivors include her daughter: Barbara H. James and husband Steve of Ruffin, her son: H. Thomas Hovatter, Jr. of Ruffin, and her grandchildren: Mark S. James, and Myra J. Rigney (Nathan).
