Gibsonville - Mr. A. W. (Bill) Moorefield, III, 69, of 409 Hazelwood Drive, Gibsonville died at the Hospice Home on Sunday, August 28, 2016 at 5:25 p.m. A native of Rockingham County, he was the husband of Connye Moorefield, who survives and the son of Arthur William Moorefield, Jr. and Cordelia Ferrell Moorefield, both deceased. Mr. Moorefield was a graduate of East Carolina University and a retired salesman for Carolina Container. He was an avid golfer and loved to go on cruises. He was a member of the First Baptist Church of Yanceyville. In addition to his wife of the home, survivors include an adopted son, Kevin Smith of Burlington; two sisters-in-law, Cappye Headman and husband John and Georgye Woody and husband Skip; and numerous nieces and nephews. Mr. Moorefield was preceded in death by his daughter, Catherine Ferrell Moorefield.
The funeral service will be conducted at the Rich & Thompson Chapel in Burlington on Wednesday, August 31, 2016 at 1:00 p.m. by Rev. Dr. Lynn Sasser with the family receiving friends from 11:45 a.m. to 12:45 p.m. prior to the service at the funeral home. Burial will be held at Connally United Methodist Church, 1664 Snatchburg Road, Milton, NC 27305 at 3:00 p.m. following the funeral service. Other times the family will be at the residence. Memorials may be made to the John T. Lee Cemetery Fund located at Connally United Methodist Church, C/O Cappye Headman, 252 Willowood Drive, Henderson, NC 27536 or to a charity of the donor’s choice.
