- Dr. William Lipscomb (Buck) Stamps (1816-1896)
Dr. William Lipscomb (Buck) Stamps was born in Feb 1816 in Halifax County, Virginia. He died 19 Jan 1896 in Caswell County, North Carolina. Graduated from UNC and the U of Pennsylvania Medical school.
Dr. William Lipscomb (Buck) Stamps and Elizabeth Taylor Bullock Jiggetts were married on 27 May 1840 in North Carolina. Elizabeth Taylor Bullock Jiggetts (daughter of Dr. David Edward Jiggetts and Susan Bullock) was born on 14 Feb 1820. She died on 21 May 1886 at "Glenburnie," Caswell County, North Carolina. Dr. William Lipscomb (Buck) Stamps and Elizabeth Taylor Bullock Juggetts Stamps had a total of twelve children; several infants are buried in Cedars Cemetery, Milton, NC.
1. Anna Ragland Stamps was born on 22 Aug 1842 in Mecklenburg County, Virginia.. She died on 11 Jun 1901 in Tarboro, Edgecombe County, North Carolina.
2. Edward Roe Stamps was born on 30 Apr 1844. He died on 30 Apr 1891. Edward volunteered in the Civil War before he was of age and became a captain; was captured and taken prisoner at Point Lookout. He studied law at UNC and practiced law at Tarboro, NC. Edward married Betty Vines Williams on 26 Jan 1876; they had children Miriam and Edward Roe II.
3. Dr. Thomas Stamps was born on 27 Dec 1849 in Milton, Caswell County, North Carolina. He died in Jan 1934 in Norfolk, Virginia.
4. Mary Stamps was born on 4 Feb 1855. She died on 26 Dec 1942. Mary married Frank Sheppard Royster 5 Nov 1874. They had nine children but raised only four: William Stamps Royster, Fannie Royster, Mary Stamps Royster, and Frank Sheppard Royster Jr.
5. Preston Stamps was born on 3 Oct 1861. He died on 9 Jul 1915. Preston married (1) Hattie McQueen 23 Dec 1897 and (2) Annie Harrington 31 Mar 1911.

Last Will and Testament of William L. Stamps
Probated February 5, 1897 at a Court held at Yanceyville, North Carolina
Book B, page 232.
In making this, my last will and testament, I, desire humbly to thank God for the blessings, temporal and spiritual to me and my children. Having given to my oldest daughter all that I am able to give, I now can give her no more, except she can take some memento of her father and mother which she shall select.
1st. In the first place, I desire that my debts be paid out of my personal and landed property. After this is done, then I give to my son Edward Roe Stamps a fourth of all property left.
2nd. And to Pauline Stamps, or any other children which my son Thomas Stamps may have, one fourth of all said land and personal effects. My son Thomas Stamps shall hold the property for Pauline Stamps and any other children which Thomas may beget. Thomas Stamps may hold or sell it for their benefit without being required to give security and shall be allowed liberal fees for his trouble.
3rd. To Mary S. Royster I give one fourth of all my property.
4th. To Preston Stamps I give one fourth of all my land and personal effects.
And may God have mercy upon us all and train us for Glory that we may meet in Heaven with those gone before and may we all praise Father and Holy Ghost for ever and ever.
